The Otonabee-South Monaghan Public Library Board is a governing board, a legal corporation with the authority to make policy and to govern the library’s affairs under the Public Libraries Act, RSO 1990, c. p.44.
A board’s duty is to provide comprehensive, effective, and efficient public library service that reflects the community’s needs and builds community capacity.
Stakeholders of today’s libraries expect strong leadership. Consequently, modern governance must reach beyond ongoing budget oversight and regular strategic planning exercises to embrace new ideas and forge strong relationships that will support the Library’s vision and mission to the community.
When does the Library Board meet? Currently, the Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 4:00–6:00 p.m., except in July and August. These meetings may be held in person, via Zoom, or in a hybrid format. Location will be determined; see meeting dates. Please note that meeting times can be accommodated or adjusted to suit the majority.
